Two other clubs, the Hershey Bears and the Lowell Devils make up the top three, with the ECHL South Carolina Stingrays and the Muskegon Lumberjacks (IHL) finishing off the top five.
Begnning in 2010 the rankings will increase to a Top 10.

BOCA RATON, FLA- MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com - 01..02.10 - The Iowa Energy topped the week on the new MLN Top 10 Minor League Basketball rankings.
The Rio Grande Valley Vipers were second, followed by the Main Red Claws. The Sioux Falls Skyforce and the Austin Toros came in 6th and 7th, while the Idaho Stampede finished 10th.
All leagues in minor and indy pro basketball are included. The San Francisco Rumble (ABA) finished a strong fourth and the Halifax Rainmen (PBL) (8th) are gearing up for a big season. The Kansas City Stars of the ABA found a slot at 9th on the campaign of Mike "The President" Jefferson.
SZ's basketball maven, Sam Amico, puts together the lists weekly based on overall performance of the clubs and the spectacular plays of the week that garner national attention.
